Kirst​en Ramsay Ceramic Conservation and Restoration is an established business based in West Sussex, United Kingdom.

Fol​lowing qualification, at the internationally renown West Dean College and with 25 years experience in the field of conservation we offer a wide range of expertise, focused on providing the client with a high-quality, professional service.


Specialising in the restoration and conservation of oriental and European ceramics and a wide range of other related materials, earthenware, painted plaster, alabaster, enamels, glass, cloisonné and micro mosaic.


Recently work has been undertaken on large scale public art project, the Stantonbury Bicycle Mural. An exterior glazed, terracotta, tiled mural.


Offering a range of treatment options based on the requirements of the object and in consultation with the client.  


We are happy to advise on antique and contemporary objects including collection care, condition reports, specialist cleaning of objects and regularly undertake insurance work.


We are dedicated to preserving objects to the highest standards and maintain contact with professional bodies to ensure materials and practices are in line with current thinking and methods.


Our clients include private collectors, public institutions, antique professionals, auction houses and the general public.



Since 2017 Kirsten Ramsay regularly appears as part of the core team in the multi award winning programme BBC and Netflix USA The Repair Shop as resident ceramics Conservator.

We would be happy to discuss your restoration requirements, advise on treatment and provide free quotations.


Our minimum charge is £150.00 per item.


Where possible estimates may be given from photographs.


Unfortunately due to the high number of requests for practical information and given the wide variety of materials and techniques, we are unable to reply to your questions on private projects or give advice.
